WHEREAS, Harvey Benjamin Langford, Sr. was born on November 14, 1913.  He married his lovely bride, Ms. Pearlie Mae Hayes in 1953. They raised their six children in Dunnellon and he was an active supporting member at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church; and 

WHEREAS, Harvey is a World War II Army Veteran who served his country valiantly as an accomplished and well-respected instructor and gunnery sergeant.  He was involved in the local chapter of the NAACP; and

WHEREAS, Harvey is a Mason, and retired in the early 1980’s as a bellman.  He worked at some of the most exclusive, luxury hotels in the country; and 

WHEREAS, Harvey is a beloved father, friend and community volunteer who is known for frequently fishing and traversing the beautiful rivers and lakes in and around our great City; and

WHEREAS, the citizens of Dunnellon, along with Harvey’s family, are blessed to know him and be a part of his life; and 

WHEREAS, on behalf of the City of Dunnellon, Florida, we wish to acknowledge and celebrate the birthday of Mr. Harvey Benjamin Langford, Sr. and express our deep appreciation for his many contributions to our City and his dedication to the betterment of this community.

NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed, the Dunnellon City Council recognizes and celebrates the 105th Birthday of Harvey Benjamin Langford, Sr. and he is hereby honored as a Dunnellon Centenarian. The citizens of Dunnellon are urged to join with us on this joyous occasion to wish Harvey our very best, not only for today, but also for years to come.  Delivered with wishes of health, happiness, and great joy this 14th day of November, 2018.
