Ocala/Marion Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) Public Workshops Schedule

The Ocala Marion Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) will be having public workshops beginning on August 6th through August 15th regarding the update to the TPO's Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP).

The LRTP serves as the vision and planning framework for the multimodal transportation system of Marion County. The current 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan was adopted in November 2015. By federal law, the 2045 update must be adopted no more than 5 years from that date.

Join one or more of the following public workshops:

  • August 6th at Marion Oaks Community Center
  • August 7th at Silver Springs Shores Community Center
  • August 8th at Belleview City Hall
  • August 13th at Lillian Bryan Community Center
  • August 14th at Dunnellon City Hall
  • August 15th at Reddick-Collier Elementary School

 All Meeting Times: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Federal Highway Act of 1962 established legislation that mandated that any urbanized area with a population of 50,000 or more that expends United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) funding must implement a continuing, cooperative, and comprehensive planning process. Therefore, the TPO was established in 1981 after the United States Census Bureau determined that the urbanized population exceeded 50,000 people.

The Ocala Marion TPO is the designated planning agency for the Ocala Urbanized Area (UA). The TPO includes the cities of Belleview, Dunnellon, and Ocala. In addition, the TPO planning boundaries include all of Marion County. As a part of the required continuing, cooperative, and comprehensive planning process, the TPO must produce and implement certain plans, one being the LRTP. The LRTP is the cornerstone of the transportation planning process for the Ocala Marion County area. The LRTP serves as a twenty-five-year blueprint for transportation improvements for the entire county. The plan projects future population and employment and analyzes their impact on the anticipated transportation system. In addition, it includes goals, objectives, and financial projections, as well as estimates of future traffic.

January 31, 2019

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is holding several public meetings to gather community input about the agency's aquatic plant herbicide treatment program.

These meetings will provide the public with an opportunity to provide feedback about management activities on Florida water bodies during 12 months.

The meetings will be held at the following times and locations (all meetings are from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. local time):

  • Feb. 6 - Kissimmee: County Commission Chambers, fourth-floor Osceola County Administration Building, 1 Courthouse Square
  • Feb. 7 - Okeechobee: Okeechobee County Civic Center, 1750 U.S. Highway 98N.
  • Feb. 13 - Sebring: Bert J. Harris, Jr. Agri-Civic Center, 4509 George Boulevard

There will be a Gainesville area meeting scheduled with the date and time to be determined For updated information on meeting times and locations go to MyFW.com/WildlifeHabitats and click on "Invasive Plants."

Comments may also be sent too.

Invasive plants degrade and diminish Florida's waterways by displacing native plant communities. Some invasive aquatic plants pose a significant threat to human welfare and cause economic problems by impeding flood control and affecting the recreational use of waterways.

September 14, 2018

In an effort to improve customer service and expand the City's operational hours for customers to have more flexibility in which to conduct business with the City, our hours of operation will change effective October 1, 2018. City Hall will be open to the public from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and will be closed on Fridays. This provides the opportunity for many of our customers to have access to City staff prior to and after their own normal work hours. This will also provide contractors the added advantage to meet with our Community Development staff as they usually begin their day earlier than most. As always, an after-hours contact number will still be available to the public for emergency needs related to our Public Works Department.

Important Information About Your Drinking Water

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER
Monitoring Requirements Not Met for CITY OF DUNNELLON

Our water system did not fulfill our monitoring requirements over the past year. Even though this was not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened and what we did to correct the situation.

We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water meets health standards. During June-September 2012 we did not complete all required monitoring or did not test according to required methods for lead and copper and, therefore, cannot be sure of the quality of our drinking water during that time.

We were required to collect lead and copper tap samples. We did not collect some or all of the required samples.

What should I do?
There is nothing you need to do at this time.

What is being done?
Substitute (make-up) samples will be collected no later than December 31, 2012. We will collect all required samples by December 31, 2012.

For more information, please contact Richard Grabbe at (352) 465-8590 or 11924 Bostick Street Dunnellon, FL 34432.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
