It is with great sadness that the City of Dunnellon announces the passing of Councilwoman Linda Fernandez.  She passed early Tuesday morning at Hospice Legacy House of Marion County.

A well-known and respected Councilwoman, Linda was born in Long Island, New York and moved to Florida in 1975. She retired from her career in real estate in 2009.  She was married to the late Dr. Manuel “Doc” Fernandez until his death in 2013.

Linda radiated a tremendous passion and love toward Dunnellon.  She was intertwined in many of the essential areas of our local government for over forty years.  Prior to her council appointment in March of 2019, she regularly attended city council meetings and served as the chairwoman for the Historic Preservation Board.  She also served on the Utility Advisory Board and chaired the Fire Rescue Advisory Board.

She led with a sense of community, having a unique understanding of our City history and what our residents desire in leadership. Linda strived to ensure her community received the highest level of service possible.  Prior to her serving on Council many of our elected officials would seek her advice and wisdom with regard to local issues.

Linda holds a very special place in our hearts and will continue to be in our thoughts as our City moves forward.

Linda leaves behind three children, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
